Special note:
For all Members of the European Union and others.
A valid driving license issued in an EU country is valid throughout the EU including Greece. You are not required to have an International Drivers Permit.
For Travelers of Non-European Union States:
An International Drivers Permit is required and mandatory for all travelers with a driver’s license from a Non-European State. The International Drivers Permit is a legal translation of a current valid driver’s license, based on the UN Standards of Road Traffic. This is a very important update and will be held firmly with no exceptions. You must have a valid license as well as an international driver's permit (IDP); failure to have both documents may result in police detention and suit as the Vehicle may not properly be rented without the IDP. All parties will be held accountable for failure to have one in the event of an accident; being open to civil suit as well as for the entire vehicle value and 3rd party expenses.
